Day 1: Malaga

Note: until it ends abruptly just before the ride to Granada, this is the original hand written journal, found over a decade later.  The journal of the entire tour was

We encountered Walter, Georgia’s husband (Georgia was a coworker of Rachael’s at the time) in the Portland airport, and sat next to him on the flight to Frankfurt.  We were upgraded to business class for some reason, and I enjoyed greater legroom and meal choices.  We were charged only $20/box for the bicycles.

We arrived in Malaga on time, with the bikes arriving in great shape for the five mile ride to our hotel. We ate at a nice vegetarian restaurant after a short walk above the city along the ramparts of the Alcazaba.

Our tour begins in Malaga. We arrived late in the day, assembled our Cannondales at the airport, and biked east into the city. We arrived too late to do anything more than take a short stroll from our hotel and grab a meal.
