Isny day ride

Today was the sunniest day of the whole trip, blue skies all day long. For the extra day in Isny we improvised a loop in the countryside for the morning and planned for lunch in Isny when we returned. Our route took us through Eglofs which I remembered from my fall tour with Janos a few years ago. We saddle up, with no saddle bags today, and are off.

Schloss Neutrauchburg (our humble abode for two nights) and the Loreto chapel

St. Martin's baroque interior - I didn't get a shot of the church from the outside.

I am always interested in pictures and statues showing Santiago or St. James, easily identified by his pilgrim attributes: a large staff, a gourd, hat, cape and scallop shell.

Lunch was Susan's treat. Thank you, Susan! We found an Indian restaurant with tables in the shade. It was a lovely meal, and a change from our usual German or Italian fare. A couple of days ago Susan asked what was typical for German cuisine, my answer was I think it is pizza.

Cool entertainment on a hot day in Isny

A fountain in stitches - I hope the knitted covering was created using a knitting machine.

We walked around in the heat a little to discover what Isny had to offer. I made a collection of hanging signs from different trades.

I whiled away the afternoon doing very little, reading a little and resting a little. In the evening we went out for a small bite to eat. Another splendid day.

Lucy MartinWhat a beautiful day! Glad you are having a wonderful tour with Susan. She taught me everything about cycling, from how to ride clipped in to how to drink water while pedaling. And when to stop for snacks. And she always brought snacks to share. And often provided breakfast too. She’s simply the best 😍
