Arusha

June 10, 1994 to June 12, 1994

We are back in Arusha.

We feel that we know the town and find a restaurant with Pizza and stay out later than usual. As we are walking back to our hotel, 3 guys walking toward, Rachel says watch them. One walks between us trying to pick Patrick's pocket. Patrick turns and confronts them, Rachel shouts "keep walking" getting the attention of the locals who help shoo them away.

As one backs up he pulls a machete out and scrapes the ground. We turn and walk away and a rock is tossed hitting Patrick's leg. This was our first attempted "mugging". We assume part of the responsibility knowing we should not have been out so late.

We stay another day in Arusha to ship home some souvenirs.
