Flights

Contrary to the norm, this time my Mom and Dad were not the ones to bring me to the Timmins airport. It might have been something to do with having to leave at 3 am for me to make a 530 am flight. Happily, sister is here for the week and cheerfully offered to shuttle me at that lovely hour.

Out at the door at 255 am, I was pretty chilly within the first step and a half out of the house. Fortunately, sister was along momentarily so away we rolled into the dark winter's night. I don't see her all that often so it was nice to have this time together. Thank you, Shelley!

The 90-ish minute ride seemed to pass quickly and when we approached the terminal in Timmins, there was a real live fox just sitting there by the door patiently awaiting a treat. It was a beauty and nice to see. Inside the terminal there were quite a few people, but nobody in the x-ray scanner line so even though she wanted to swab the bike I was through and had the bike packed and ready to go. The Air Canada staff soon relieved me of my bike box and duffle with the reat of my gear not to be seen until we are re-united in Lisbon.

Not quite full, the plane was a few minutes late to leave after having to be de-iced but then... up, up and away we went. Reading, dozing and relaxing made quick time of the flight and again in no time at all I was to and into the Maple Leaf Lounge for the first few minutes of many hours.

Now to lounge in the lounge until evening. The flight does not board until about 9 pm. As I type, it is now 818 am!
