Hiking in Kintail
Glomach Inn is run by Celia Munro, a delightful and interesting woman and the wife of a minister of the Scottish parliament. A very generous lady, she lent us binoculars and a map for our day hike into the Kintail preserve, and encouraged us at breakfast to build sandwiches and take fruit for our hike.
Under cloudy skies, we had a fine 12 mile out and back walk into the preserve. The first 3 miles were flat along the creek through the broad glen north of the Five Sisters. The next miles gradually climbed toward the pass into Glen Afric. It was very quiet - other than the everpresent sheep we saw almost no one, passing perhaps one party per hour.
