Tha Bo - The sixteenth step ... From Bác Hồ to กรุงเทพมหานคร - CycleBlaze

Tha Bo

A late start today because we were waiting for the local Lotus Hypermarket to open at eight, just to be able to stock up on tea and coffee, neither of which are available in an acceptable quality at the local stores.

After that it was a short, slow and gentle ride along the Mekong to Tha Bo, passing the fourth Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge along the way.

We crossed this bridge from the Laos side right years ago. Amazingly we weren't prevented from cycling across.

Andrea BrownOne can still cycle across this bridge. Our friend just did it the other day. We've done it too but it wasn't much fun.

Jean-Marc StrydomTo Andrea BrownCycling across is still better than being forced to take a bus.

Andrea BrownTo Jean-Marc StrydomAgreed! There’s something so insulting about being bussed across a simple flat bridge. AND having to pay for the insult!

The next few days are going to be short as well because from here we are heading south towards Nam Nao National Park with the hope of spending a couple of days in a natural environment.  We don't want to be there on a weekend because it apparently gets quite busy.  If we time it right we will get there on Sunday afternoon.

Today's ride: 37 km (23 miles)
Total: 1,546 km (960 miles)
