Port Mur to La Balme des Grottes
We go off piste, meet a Faroe cyclist and find a Lidl of what we fancy.
Heat building as we pack up. Coffee and croissant at reception and use internet.
Route has excellent surface and I use top gear trying to keep up with Michael, practising my " drafting " skills. However the signs differ from the Cicerone guide ( they had warned that route markers in Isere were haphazard).

Your post has reminded me to read more local blogs, and I enjoyed your Covid route.! We have a good ride here on a shared path, which gives us a 10 km round trip, and which we enjoy of an evening. Auckland is slowly improving its cycling infrastructure.
We keep our hopes for some Australian cycling in the future. We’ve enjoyed the Melbourne circuit and seaside ride, and hope to venture inland, one fine Covid-free day.
Kind regards,

After Groslee, none of the names in our guide match the route markers so we follow the local signs through woods and newly ploughed fields. At Morestel we find fruit and nuts, and chat to a cyclist from the Faroe Isles, on bike he put together himself.
Eventually we go back to river near Sault Brenaz which we follow almost until Lagnieu.

Spot a Lidl and so stock up for Dinner and Sunday. Ask a woman in The queue for directions to cross river to La Balme des Grottes. She kindly waits in her car to show us way back to river.
No camping at the caves, prehistoric drawings there), so push on. Stop at BEAUSEJOUR which was a little less than beau, but we do basic. Lots of cabins and everyone enjoying Sunday dinner.
We have now established the routine for setting up camp. Picnic dinner and bed.
Today's ride: 55 km (34 miles)
Total: 179 km (111 miles)
