Day 68 - Lapinig, Northern Samar to Taft, Eastern Samar
Day 3 - Samar Island Loop
Day 68: Lapinig, Northern Samar to Taft, Eastern Samar: KM.851 Gamay-Lapinig Road to KM.868 Junction Taft-Oras-San Policarpio-Arteche Road × KM.969 to KM.895 Sulat-Taft Road - Monday February 15, 2016, 103 km (64 miles) - Total so far: 6,550 km (4,070 miles)
103km of mostly smooth well-paved roads on gentle rolling terrain with not so easy climbs on a couple small hills before the provincial boundary, from KM.851 St. Bonaventure Parish, Lapinig, where we had breakfast with biker-priest, Rev. Fr. Batchoi Osias, to KM.868 × KM.969 Highway Boundary to KM.895 Katrina Beach Resort for dinner and overnight stay. Lunch at small eatery in San Policarpo.
The small and sleepy town of Lapinig is Northern Samar's boundary municipality with Eastern Samar on its coastal side in the Pacific area. There were no hotels, inns or lodging houses to stay for the night so I had to call my good friend and fellow Philippine Looper, biker-priest, Rev. Fr. Amado Picardal to ask for help. He told me to proceed to the church convent and look for the parish priest so he can speak with him. Baby, what a big surprise! He turned out to be Rev. Fr. Batchoi Osias, a biker-priest as well who, with Edelio Asinas Yebron Sr. of Catarman, rode with me from the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish in Rosario to the Port of Allen in Day 63 of A to Z on a GT, Part II. Problem solved! God is good, all the time.
