Day 59 - Zero day in Dubois

After my 75 mile uphill slog into a stiff wind yesterday, I was not ready for a 66 mile ride with a 2,700 foot climb today. A day of sightseeing in Dubois is in order

Dan Starks is a former attorney and CEO of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Dan and Cynthia Starks privately funded the 100 million dollar National Museum of Military Vehicles which opened in 2020. I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I rode right by this museum on the way to Dubois. Today I took the 9 mile ride out to the museum (minus my panniers which dropped 40 pounds).

I have been in quite a few museums and I have to say this was one of the best. I cannot begin to describe how this 140,000 square foot museum captures the vehicles and people who operated them during WWI, WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Dan is one of the top three military historians in the US. He was giving a tour while I was there, and is a captivating speaker. The museum is very close to the Tetons and Yellowstone, well worth seeing.
