Wild Fires and Rain - what a way to start!

John, my husband, and I drove 12 hours over two days to get from Duxbury, Vermont to Halifax, Nova Scotia for the start of a one month trip through the Canadian Maritimes: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.

Of course the unexpected at the start of our trip - wild fires in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia leading to closed bike trails and smokey conditions. We may wind up shuttling our first ride day. Rain is forecast for the first eight days so it may be a wet ride to start. Whatever! It is certainly a good thing for the people in these two provinces who need the rain to help put out the fires.

John looking for a dry place to sit during a walk along the harbor in the rain - 45 degrees. We kept imagining what it would be like on a sunny, warm, summer day.

Michael SpierSounds like a great trip. Have you considered the Madeleine Islands from Souris, PEI. They are magical and only a five hour ferry away !
