Celtic Shores Coastal Trail

Such a good day!

The first half of this trail rated 5 stars. Good surface, nice terrain, and beautiful views!

Off the truck and getting ready to ride!

Jane Ratsey WilliamsThese are the kind of views, like where I live on eastern Long Island, that make me think when earlier settlers were here this is exactly what they saw...well, maybe minue the turquoise line!

People We Meet: Mike (on the right) with our trusty support person Cal (on the left). Mike rents e-bikes along the trail and highly recommended the next 8 miles.

After the first half the trail and the weather worsened a little. The trail got very sandy and caused some of the riders to slip and even to fall. Nothing serious thank goodness. It also got quite cloudy and cooler. The final 8 miles was great again. Now we were riding along a brackish river like waterway. I even thought it was a bit like a canal. Very differnent from the first half but quite stunning in itself.

The river like water we rode by for miles.

People We Meet: Brad the fisherman who told me about the striped bass coming up the brackish water on our left. He likes to fish for trout but the striped bass have decimated the trout population since they started moving up the brackish water. He was fishing for some perch he saw jumping in the fresh water on our left

We finally came to the end of our ride, got into the support vehicles and drove an hour from Inverness to Baddeck. Phew - it was a long but really good day!

Finally!!!
