Day 5 Spanish Point to Ballyvaughan

Today’s weather was better but still cool and windy.  Nonetheless it was a great day on the bike with some lovely scenery including the Cliffs of Mohr and the Burren Peninsula.  It was 75km total for me with 2 of the toughest climbs to date.  We ended the day with a lovely downhill into Ballyvaughan part of which was called Corkscrew Hill.  Our lunch stop was at The Ritz in a small village.  Everyday we have been having different soup and sandwich combinations but they have been perfect.  Today was leek and potato with a ham and cheese toastie.  The hot soup is a welcome thing when you have a bit of a chill.

The route for today. The ℹ️ is where the Cliffs of Mohr are located.

Head winds again today but the lone section of tail wind was at least when we were on the toughest climb of the day.

The Lahinch goat. It is the emblem for the golf course because for over 200 years goats have roamed the fairways. You see them when the weather is good but they take refuge at the club house when the weather turns foul.

The Burren peninsula has some pretty rugged terrain.
