Day 169: Port Fairy to Peterborough

The weather forecast was for rain and light winds. The rain never came.

There were several Irish sounding names between Port Fairy and Warnambool. Clonmarra, Mcgill, Belfast Lough, and Killarney. Now I want a Kilkenny. There is a local Irish Festival in Koroit every year attracting 4,000 people.

Warnambool's claim to fame. Maybe towns just make this stuff up?

I stopped in Warnambool for a coffee and didn't explore the city. It was hilly and I wanted to make some progress before the forecast rain arrived.

I was very excited to reach the Great Ocean Road. I've thought about cycling it for years.

The road is narrow with no shoulder. Traffic was busy with tourists today.

There is a cheese world shop opposite the factory. Unfortunately it was closed today.

There were a few big milk tankers on the small country roads today.

There was lots of water lying around in paddocks.

This colourful jigsaw cow was in Nullawarre.

This is where white people did bad things to Kirrae Whurrong Aboriginal people. Details are sketchy. The end result was the local population was devastated.

The area is also known as the Bay of Martyrs for the same reason.

I checked into the caravan park in Peterborough. The town is small with 2 general stores and a pub.

There are a million mozzies in the pine trees that attacked me. $20.

Vince McCarthyIt's rained every day for short periods but never rained all day so all is good.
