Cedar Valley Nature Trail
After yesterday’s successful adventure into cycling, the only request today was pavement versus trail riding. So a quick search yielded a bike path that goes north into Cedar Rapids from Solon.
We opted to start at the mid-point of Ely but unknown to us it was also the town’s Fall Festival. Old cars, lots of people, a kids park greeted us as we snaked our way slowly south out of town.

Once on the trail we went south until we got to Solon and then turned north to head back to Ely and beyond. Our aunt and uncle decided they wanted to do at least 20 miles but in the end they achieved a 30 mile day, their longest ride ever. Lisa and I kept going a bit further into Cedar Rapids proper before we turned around at the main bridge.
The ride back was fast and the other cycling traffic slowly subsided.
And … happy 61st birthday to the PedalPushin Wife. It was a great way to spend a portion of her birthday.
Today's ride: 35 miles (56 km)
Total: 778 miles (1,252 km)
