Day 5 - last day in Switzerland

Schaffhausen

As the title says this is our last day in Switzerland the land of things very expensive. We are staying in Shaffhausen and tomorrow we enter Germany for a few days. Today was a much easier day than the others with a scheduled ride of 48km but we arrived too early for our room so we rode to the Rhine-falls, a 8km return trip. On our route we passed through Stein am Rhein the best preserved medieval village in Switzerland. It is easy to tell WWII did not happen here because there are amazing buildings as you will see in the photos. Another quirk of the day was that we crossed train tracks 7 times some only to go a couple hundred metres and then get back on the same side. We were stopped by trains twice. Much of the ride was along the Untersee an arm off the Bodensee that becomes the Rhine River.

The next several photos are of Stein am Rhein

We had several gravel sections today but this was the toughest uphill and down. We stopped to talk to a couple of locals and I must have gotten 12 mosquito bites.

Entering Schaffhausen. We stopped for crêpes for lunch before entering town.

The Rhine falls, the largest waterfall in Europe. It doesn’t compare to Niagara Falls

Also at the falls they have a Maid of the Mist like boat adventure
