The Car to Chartres
We spent last night flying to Paris. A fairly uneventful flight but tiring just the same. I never seem to sleep much on airplanes and so always land with the hung over/jet lag feeling.
Our tandem, Dorthy, travels in two large hard suitcases. Now that we are in France we would not need our cases again until we are ready to fly back to the USA. We booked an airport hotel near CDG for our last night in France with the condition they would hold our boxes for the five weeks that we are here. So once we got to the hire car we unpacked Dorthy into the back of the car and her boxes went in to the back seat to be dropped off at the hotel on our way out of the airport.

With the bags dropped off we entered the fray of Paris rush hour traffic on our way to Chartres. It's rather disappointing as you keep driving and your estimated arrival time keeps getting further away rather than closer. It rained most of the way to Chartres and we were at least grateful that we were not on the bike yet.
On making Chartres we checked into our B&B which was a very cute converted farm house complete with an Australian shepherd. Jack the Aussie constantly ran around the outside of the building greeting all arrivals.
We started with great plans of heading up to the Cathedral that night to see the lights but that idea got squashed when we both feel asleep from total exhaustion.
