It's a long ride out of Nuremberg. Our progress is slowed down by our frequent stops to take photos. There are many Art Nouveau buildings in warm hues of red sandtsone which survived the war. The road out of town also passes the Palace of Justice where the Nuremberg trials were held.
We continue on into the city of Fürth which has grown together with Nuremberg's sprawl. The straight stretch of road between the two towns is also the site of the first German railway.
It takes a while to get out of Nuremberg and adjoining Fürth, but there is a bike path all the way
And finally we are in the country. In the first small towns we see the Easter decorations which are typical of this part of Bavaria. Easter eggs, wreaths and bunny rabbits decorate fountains, front yards, parks. Wherever you look, symbols of fertility, eggs and bunny rabbits, a heathen custom which Christianity borrowed since I suppose it couldn't eradicate it.
We're glad when we reach Pension Becker in Rothenburg - it's late and has been a long day for us. We're chilled but also delighted that the folding bikes handle so well. If it weren't for the surprised look on people's faces when they saw us, we would have altogether forgotten that we were riding folders.
