Thaton - Chiangrai: A longtail ride on the Kok River

Sun or no, we are determined to be on our way. We are thankful it isn't raining and at eleven we board our rented longtail boat together with two Austrians and a German with whom we share the costs. The 68 kilometer trip costs 2200 Baht (45 Euro)for the five of us.

The boat makes one stop along the way in case you need the restrooms, a cup of coffee or a bowl of noodles. Of course this also a souvenir stop and there are elephants on the river bank in case you want to have your picture taken on an elephant. I don't know anything about elephant care, but these looked like sad elephants. I imagine they would be happier dragging logs, but that is probably my sentimental imagination.

The sun comes out around noon and we are in Chiangrai at 2:30. It was a great trip. Here are some pictures.
