Day 35: Lacanau Ocean - Soulac: By the beautiful sea
Very chilly and grey, a few drops of rain even fall this morning. The open café across the street from the campground entrance is very welcome. Next to our campground the bike path continues north along the coast. For about 10 km we have a very narrow path of concrete slabs and either side loose sand. I'm wondering why there are so many traces of wheels in the sand if there is a path. The answer is soon evident - oncoming traffic. It's Sunday and there are lots of mountain bikers out. This isn't my ideal bike path and I'm glad when we find an alternative to this scenic route behind the dunes.

For the rest of the ride we find quiet roads or asphalt bike paths and the weather improves. We wanted to go further today, but entering Soulac we spot an unpretentious hotel on the roadside and decide to stop. It would be too cold for me tonight in my super light sleeping bag.
Today's ride: 68 km (42 miles)
Total: 2,058 km (1,278 miles)
