Triple C Trail

I devote much of today to a dogged effort to catch up on the journal, making slow but steady progress until the sunshine lures me outside.

All the bikes are unleashed from the racks now. My two bikes lean on a rickety fence, the recumbent is behind the trailer and Barry's other two have slid down against the picnic table. These bikes take enough of a beating. At least they could be stowed so that they're not rubbing against each other. I've noticed some of the bikers here have racks at their sites. I'll have to research what's out there later.

These bikes deserve better treatment

We're just going to ride out to the trails from here and make it a car-free day.  We head out a little farther this time to the Triple C trail, named for the three sharp C-curves at the start.

Hank offered a tip for making these turns - stay out of the saddle so the bike can move more easily around the curve. I've probably heard this before but not everything sinks in right away. Anyway, this time I try it and am delighted to find out how much easier it is to turn standing on the pedals.

There's not much else to report. The ride goes fine - no crashes, no altercations with the Cholla. With three trail rides under my belt I'm ready to join the group ride here on Tuesday.

Not a big picture day, just a fun ride

After dinner I get on Amazon and order a basic five-bike rack that is supposed to avoid dinging the disc brakes. We'll see how that works when it gets here in a couple days.

Barry thinks I undersold our new deck of cards in yesterday's post. Scenes from the Sonoran Desert add to its charm. There's one for each suit: a Saguaro, fields of Mexican poppies at Mount Ajo, a Coyote and a Roadrunner. The bird card says they are so quick that they are known to prey upon rattlesnakes. Respect for the Roadrunner.

Scott AndersonThat is awesome. We’ll definitely pick up a deck either here or at the eastern unit.
