Wildcamp 53 km south of Rolleston
Mark left for Rolleston some time after seven o'clock. Our plan was to wildcamp halfway so we had time to have one last look for Platypus. Only a brief sighting of one this morning but we did get some nice birding done while Platypus hunting.
After the tent had dried sufficiently (it has been very wet here) we packed up and cooked a large and early lunch so that we could make do with simple tuna sandwiches for supper.
Then it was a struggle up the hills out of Carnarvon Gorge before an easy ride, with a number of birding stops, to an excellent wildcamp ten kilometers north of the junction with the main road north to Rolleston.
The wildcamp is at a large abandoned gravel pit above the road so we are well hidden although the noise of any traffic carries to us. The birding here has been good too. Only fifty odd kilometers to Rolleston tomorrow so we can hopefully enjoy the birds again before we hit the road.
Today's ride: 51 km (32 miles)
Total: 2,862 km (1,777 miles)
