Managed to delete the broken video links on an iPad by tapping the edge of the grey screen area that then put a blue line along the left edge of the grey screen. Tapping the delete key then got rid of the link and the grey screen.
I’m not sure if I could replicate this at a regular computer with a mouse.
Anyway, first order problem fixed for now.
It’s perhaps not the best solution, but I’ve been able to get rid of them by destroying them. If you copy text from somewhere and then paste it into the post, you get en arrow message: “CycleBlaze does not support embedded content”. It’s presumably a bug of some kind in the app, but it trashes any videos and maps in the post. You get the error message for each such object in the post. It doesn’t remove them, but then you can backspace through the video to eliminate it.
Sounds like a good “Portland” solution 😎! Throw bricks and firecrackers at it! I’ll give it a try.
As amazing as all this technology is these days, it seems like the only way to figure it out is good old trial & error.
I’ll probably have some fun with your suggestion. Visions of a good ‘virtual street protest’ running through my mind as I’m trashing the video.
Thanks, and I hope your Croatia plans are holding up. Just daily mountain biking and hiking for us now and for the forseeable future. Not a bad situation to have though.
Rgds,
Lyle
Hi again Scott,
Reading the news today and seeing how the situation in Portland has escalated, I realize that my post yesterday is highly insensitive. A misguided attempt at humour.
My abject apologies to any and all who were offended by my comments. No harm or malice intended but I recognize that it may have been inflicted.
Regards, Lyle
Really, you should apologize Lyle. Especially since you were forced to review the forum decorum rules (hey - forum decorum - I like that! My 10th grade Latin teacher would be proud of me) before submitting your post. Where’s that Canada Nice we keep hearing so much about?
No offense taken though. I do feel the anarchist in me rising, but if we ever manage to meet up down the road I could be tamed with a well placed pint.
Does anyone know how to remove a 'linked' video from a journal post?
I have this bad habit of posting a You Tube music video for each day of our tours. As with most things in the virtual world, nothing is permanent and inevitably some of the links get corrupted and fail to work. It's easy enough to find a new You Tube link to take the place of the failed one, but I'm unable to delete /remove the failed link, and it just ends up as (considerable) dead grey space on the page.
Here's a link to a page that shows what I'm trying to describe.
Any help and insight on this topic gratefully appreciated.
