Huh. I’m not sure I get your point here. I’ve been trying to decide whether we should cancel our tour that starts in two weeks, but you’re suggesting I should go pick up a few new bikes instead?
Apologies Scott. My post was a bit obtuse. It was partly in response to seeing other cyclists’ satirical posts about about COVID19 induced panic buying. One example below.
And yes COVID19 is a genuine concern, especially to travel plans. However (at least here in Australia) we are seeing some very odd panic behaviour in the marketplace, with supermarket shelves being stripped bare of toilet paper being the prime example.
Apologies back at you. I understood you the first time. My sense of humor is likewise often obtuse.
Have transferred my note to Graham's query on the effects of the corona virus on cycle-touring. - JS
Scott you may have noticed that the rapidly developing COVID19 pandemic is causing some very odd behaviour such as the hoarding of toilet paper, crashing of share markets, falling $Australian, virulent online forums and general panic.
In other words business as usual for pandemics.
Hence I am now retrospectively claiming that my slightly excessive stable of bikes will be a useful stash to have in a global health and economic crisis such as COVID19. That’s my excuse and I am sticking to it. Just don’t ask how many tyres and tubes I have stored.
