When cycle touring with two, three or even four friends or more, keeping track of shared expenses (especially accommodation and meals) can become quite a task over several weeks or longer. 

At least one of the group needs to keep a tally.  In the past, I’ve done this with a simple list in a hardcopy notebook. So pen and pencil plus the calculator on my phone to do a tally.

But recently a friend introduced me to a free App which makes this mundane task much easier. 

It’s called Splitwise and it is so simple, even I can use it. 

I’m currently on a three week tour with a friend, and we are using Splitwise. The only slight issue is that the free version, has a limited number of transactions per day, and it insists on showing adverts for the Pro (paid) version before each transaction. Otherwise, it’s faultless for our needs.

Plus 1 on this.  I've used the app for exactly the same purposes and it worked great for us, too.

I've found Splitwise to be a great app.  My favourite thing is that there is no 'banker'.  Everyone is responsible for entering their own expenses, and you get notified if someone has split something with you.  

You can split with some or all of the group. And you can split equally, or choose how to split things.  If you watch the balance, you can balance spending so that very little money changes hands at the end of the trip.  And then if you don't owe anything at the end, it's kinda like the trip was free!
