Mike caffeine is as essential as a bicycle for my version of cycle-touring.
Coffee and an Aeropress coffee maker are the first items I pack.
Everything else on the packing list is optional. :)
Not many would disagree with you Graham.
(Well maybe anyone who is a Latter Day Saint.)
Mike this reminds me of a phenomenon called by various names, but the one I recall is the “Caffeine to Cabernet Cycle.”
That is the habit of depending on coffee in the morning, and wine at night.
Not being able to wake up without caffeine, and not being able to unwind in the evening without a near-overflowing glass of fermented grape juice.
I don’t think I was strongly addicted to this diurnal routine, but it was certainly a pattern of behaviour I followed for a while. Especially when cycle touring in New Zealand with its abundance of great local wines.
Nice that you contributed to this forum, Kelly. It gives me a chance to show off my latest nonalcoholic beer trophy and review: Free, another Athletic offering. Even though I had seconds while we waited for our new Airbnb to become available it was pretty bland, tbh. I’m anxious to try out the Guinness Stout nonalcoholic we brought home from the store later though.
And thanks again for the lift from the airport!
Steve insists that he needs coffee regularly throughout the day. Water won't do. So I, who neither likes nor drinks coffee, ever, get to carry a kettle, instant coffee powder and a thermos which gets filled every morning. Hey, I never said he was a coffee connoisseur, just that he "needs" regular infusions. Oh yeah, on the topic of this thread....neither of us drink alcoholic beverages, or even "non alcoholic" beers, etc. We just never acquired the taste.
Here’s one you can give him……
Levi’s first birthday with his half brother Kevin
Typical me, going way off the thread!
