An weekend ride with a group of backpackers on the Weiser River Trail
For my favorite touring photo of 2022, I'm going to go with this one. Please don't ask me to explain why.

I like it. Sometimes I do feel like I'm holding the whole world on my head and hands.
For me it has to be the photo of the family that stopped to check if I was okay as I stood resting (gasping, wheezing) near the top of the unnamed-but-not-insubstantial hill between Virginia City and Ennis MT. They cheerfully reorganized their already-stuffed minivan, including doubling up one of the girls into the mother's lap so they could shoehorn my gear, bike, and hot sweaty bedraggled self into their van and give me a ride over the top and down the opposite side to my hotel. They were filled with joy, a spirit of adventure, and good will. I'll treasure forever the few moments we shared.
