It has been coming to my front yard every night for over 3 weeks. My house is on the corner of a very busy 4 lane road. 

What attracts it to your home?

Do you have a creek or a pond? 

Wow, what a gift!  Maybe he sensed you were in recovery and needed comforting.  A therapy heron.

No water here. I asked the bird experts and they couldn't answer why the bird choose my yard.

I like that reason a lot! It really is therapy as I have spent hours watching it and taking 100's of pictures. My neighbors are a little jealous!

The blur at the bottom of the pictures is the slat from my solar storm shutters. I was less than 8 feet from the heron standing in my dining room. It was too fast to get the picture of it catching the bug.
