I've considered the coast to coast idea enough to come up with a way to only fly once. Ride to a coast (any coast, doesn't matter which one), then fly to the opposite coast and ride home. Just one cross country flight needed. Less chance for mishaps with the bike. 

Mentally, I think I'd like riding it all in one shot best. 

Trust me to consider all of the angles!
