Scott - you win :-)

Unless someone posts a higher number. It seems some of us have quite a ways to go to catch up to this record.

Paul,

It's a little off topic to the subject - but, would the Atlanta area be a good winter tour spot? Jacinto is a bit tired of the Tucson area (horrors!). Atlanta is a heck of a drive from Colorado, but would the weather be dependable enough around Christmas to make it a suitable destination?

Thanks,

Kelly

Here's December's calendar from underground. While not all days hit the low-70's like they did last week, it's generally nice enough to be in cycling shorts most of the time. But then I'm fine in shorts all the way to the mid-40's (F). The forecast is just an estimate based on historical data.

If you plan to come to the Atlanta area let me know if I can help plan any sights or routes for you, or if you'd like company for a few hours. I guess I consider myself an Atlanta-area ambassador (at least until I take off on the yacht for a year-long-adventure).

Paul,

Those look like doable temperatures. The 22 hour one way drive is a deterrent. I think we would probably have to fly and ship the bikes . . .  . this year I do have an airbnb in Tucson. Next year, we have to go somewhere else. I may well me in touch!

For those of us from dry states, what months would you say are most tolerable, humidity wise?

Thanks,

Kelly

I'll still be around next winter and should be retired then so I'll have enough time to help plan a route and ride with you should you head this way. Yes, 22 hours for a drive is a long way to travel. Maybe I'll make a post with some highlights of the trail to give you something to look forward to.

not to break up a budding relationship between you and Paul, but have you two ever considered Saint George?  I’m not sure about December and January, but I think November and February would work; and the cycling there is fantastic.  Rachael and I have considered this ourselves.

I've been trying to get Kelly to try the Palm Springs/Imperial Valley/Joshua Tree area which is about the same driving time for her as driving to Tucson. The low elevation and extreme dryness makes it warm even in December.

"...Palm Springs/Imperial Valley/Joshua Tree..."

I second that.  Be sure to ride to Borrego Springs.

Of course.  Should have thought to mention that myself.  It’s great in the winter, especially if they have the car and can combine it with Borrego Springs.  Great winter cycling.
