I just read your post with interest. I am being kicked off of the other site because I am on this one and received an email out of the blue just this evening letting me know to download any of my journals before I'm tossed. Wowzers!
It’s remarkable how rapidly the guy is destroying his life’s work. Spite and bitterness will bring an unhappy ending for him.
Me too. And I've made a point of not saying anything personal or political about that site.
I was just discussing this with someone today. His blocking of Google from indexing the website is only going to hurt the site (and ultimately its owner), just to make a political/philosophical point about Google's power. And the futile attempts at preventing people from scraping journals from the site have already damaged its reputation, I believe: It's so easy to inadvertently trigger his anti-scraping logic, just by clicking links a couple of seconds apart, that If you accidentally do that while browsing the site, your IP address is banned for some indeterminate amount of time. I've seen references on other cycle touring forums to this happening to people. A couple of them assumed the site had gone down after this happened to them. That's not good for its reputation.
Are you sure that you did not post something that he disagreed with?
Otherwise he is really losing it.
The upside of people not being able to get around much is that they are posting/revising all their old journals for the rest of us to enjoy.
I have not logged on for a few years, simply leaving journals there as a legacy (for whom, one might ask... lol). His comment in the email is that this website is hostile to his, I have been creating here, thus he is removing me.

I just got the same e-mail this evening. It took me about three minutes to delete my account. I didn't download anything. Yet, I feel a sense of relief.
Sorry to take this thread off topic but I don't know how to find a reply from Kelly. (The site is getting too big!)
I posted in somebody's journal that I really enjoy heritage railways and Kelly sent me a link to a heritage site where they not only offer a "driver experience" but train a team of customers to drive and fire the locomotive without supervision.
Anyway I just got an email with this link www.vgr.com.au from one of our local Heritage Railways.
Kelly, yours is definitely bigger than mine!
Mike
I completely agree!
