I agree w Ms Johnson--the mural is nice. I like it but am not entirely sure why.

Dinner was fine...not a bar, but a busy little restaurant and the waitress did indeed have a scary looking gun on her hip.

We'll be thinking about you tomorrow. I hope you have good weather and tailwinds. It will be all behind you soon!
I also hope you have a peaceful dinner - it sounds a bit unsettling. But, you all wanted an adventure...

Love these murals and the Hotel looks pretty wonderful, too. Looks like you are getting close to your half way point. How strong you must be. Keep up the good work all the way to the finish line.
We are traveling many miles today, too.......but it is by plane to see the Grandkids. At the end of our trip instead of feeling strong, we probably will feel frazzled and in need of a quiet rest.

Doug,
We had not noticed the similarity...interesting. Begs the question, who proposed the flag design for Texas? We learned at breakfast that the N. Carolina flag is also similar.

Francie & Ken: I'm really enjoying your journal. It just took a while to find the "submit comment" option. You're finding some real gems there. BTW, ever notice the similarity with the flags of Texas and Chile? Guess which one was first?

I love the hotel lobby! What an amazing trip across landscapes and cultures. 21 degrees wind chill??!! You are definitely super stars...or super nuts!

Ken, I stand corrected and now informed re Francie’s physical toughness....just one of many reasons that you’re “made for each other”!

Au contraire, Steve, Francie has always pushed herself as a runner and now as a cyclist! And yes, Harvard must have had a field study program here back in the early half of the prior century, as housed faculty in the building that now bears its name.

You are staying next door to the Harvard Hotel?!! Not a hotel name I would ever expect to encounter in a town named after the president of the Confederacy!
Hope you get your energy back during rest day.
Francie, I am in awe of your physical stamina and determination! Since those are Ken’s middle names, I’m less impressed with his efforts.😀
