I miss my fan club. 2 weeks and 4 days to go, if I can keep wisdom tooth #5 under control till then.

Bud you did it…..so wonderful. Don’t take any yummy snacks into your tent as that attracts bears. Carrot and celery sticks would be ok…..oh well…..add some chocolate milk…..you deserve it!!!

I don't mean to rub it in, but the sit down meal at Lake McDonald Lodge was a big highlight for me on the Going to the Sun Road. It was my first shrimp scampi as I recall and it was delicious. On the other hand, the next day it rained all day as I pedaled eastward up to Logan Pass and down the other side and it rained all night as I camped near St. Mary's Lake. As a result, I didn't take a single photograph, much less such beautiful pictures as the ones you took.

Well, congratulations. I’m relieved the antibiotics are helping, and happy for you that you’re able to continue. You deserved a much better meal, obviously.

Bud you did it!!!! That’s just wonderful!!!! Be careful of the wildlife when you are camping. I’m not going outside after dark because yesterday we learned that a mountain lion was on our tiny little street on Friday night. I went out that night to see the stars and I saw the dark outline of something really big sitting across the street. So I hurried in. Now I know it was that same mountain lion. So, if one could be at my house, it could be anywhere. Be careful!!!!

I'm so glad you felt well enough to ride!
Tailwinds to you tomorrow. Eat a good breakfast.
Jacinto says that there is a movie named Cut Bank. The opening scene is a couple stopping by the side of the road to photo some sunflowers and accidentally photograph a murder . . . from there you can decide if it's your kind of movie.

You're in for a treat tomorrow. Good luck and tell that tooth to shut up for now.

It’s good to hear you’re feeling a bit better. It must be difficult to contemplate stopping after all the distance you’ve ridden. I hope it goes well for you tomorrow. I’m not ready for your journal to end!

Bud, so glad that the antibiotics seem to have kicked in. I was so distressed to think that you might have to abandon the journey. Reading the blog and watching the videos has become the highlight of my day. Your wry wit makes me laugh and your calm voiceovers remind me of Bob Ross, the tv painting teacher. It made him famous, and hopefully yours will too……okey dokey…..over ‘n out !!!!!

Steve;

Thanks - the antibiotic does appear to be working! I'm taking a 2nd rest day, just not quite strong enough to roll on yet, but I plan to ride tomorrow. The pain is controlled in the daytime, it's just at night that I need pain pills - and those things make me woozy and make it hard for me to get up early and bike - so I need to figure out a way to handle that - maybe just take 1 hydrocodone at bedtime and then switch to ibuprofen when I wake up in pain during the night.

I have an abscess in my jaw caused by the infection - it will go away when the tooth is extracted, of course, and we hope it will slowly decrease from the ongoing antibiotics - I guess it's hard for the antibiotic to get to that area. I think that's the cause of my nighttime pain - apparently when I lay down there is more pressure applied on it - maybe I could learn to sleep standing up!

When I rolled into Cut Bank I had a toothache the size of Montana - now it's just a pain at night - much better. Two days ago I thought there was a significant probability I would have to abandon - today I think I have a good chance of finishing - not a certainty by any stretch, but a good chance. That's all anyone can ask for on a tour. Thanks for your concern, best wishes for your tour,

Buddy Hall

In Dodie's experience (as a nurse) the correct antibiotic will show a positive effect in 24 to 48 hours. We really hope this happens for you.
