Valerie;
Thanks for the kind words, truly appreciated. But many folks have it much worse than me - hey, I'm actually bicycling across the country! Best wishes,
Bud
Andrew,
It was good to meet you and your mom - and your journal is very interesting, I will definitely be following it! Best wishes for the rest of your journey. Oh, BTW, you rode through my home of Tulsa on the Route 66 portion of your tour.
Bud
Tom;
Let us know what you think about the Montana roads. We don't plan on changing our route as of now, but if you had the same bad opinion of the Montana roads we might. We are planning on camping in Wenona. Best wishes,
Bud
Rick,
Thanks for checking in, it's nice to know folks are actually following us! It was good meeting you - we have a high opinion of folks from Ohio, as several (including you) offered to help us in any way needed. And I agree with you about Doc :>)

"Lednar,"
I have the gopro Hero 8 - it does a great job with discriminating my voice from the wind - I think the audio technology is improved from earlier gopro models.

What an action packed day! And everyone is so nice!
3 years agoGentlemen, Rick from Conneaut here. I've finally caught up on the journal. So I will be checking in from time to time to follow your progress. Thank you for letting me know about this site. I'll be looking forward to reading other adventures from different people. For now I'm focused on you two and joining the ride in spirit. I love the fact that Doc is just a little more disorganized than George. I hope that he is keeping an extra mile log (kinda like your found money) my bet is that by the end of the road Doc will have 200 more miles than George.
3 years agoYou are doing a great job on the journal. The map, narrative and video, I almost feel I'm doing the ride with you, well done. I borrowed my sons Go-pro for some riding but the noise from the wind, cars etc is drowning out my voice, might have to move it to the front of the helmet. Looks like the motorists are giving you plenty of room. Keep up the good work.
3 years agoBud what a loverly Mayberry sort of day! Just what we all need right now. Seeing the video one cold imagine it was 1960 all but for the cars. It’s nice to know that places like this exist. I want to buy a house on that lake and host all of the Hall-Henry’s for a Fourth of July Hullaballoo!!!
3 years agoI really don't think so!
3 years agoI met that same couple right outside of Cleveland! They gave me the same advice about Montana.
I enjoy catching up on these posts whenever I get the chance. PS Iroquois IL and Wenona IL are great towns to stop in. Things get sparse in the plains and both of these towns are very accommodating to cyclists offering hot showers and safe places to camp.
It was cool running into the touring convention on the side of the road today!
I'm bookmarking your journal so I can follow your progress. I'm definitely interested in how the Northern Tier route is

Got to meet Doc yesterday at the local watering hole, Tap Room...Really Nice Conversation, Good Luck Gentlemen 🚴♂️
3 years agoYou are very much an inspiration to me after reading what you have been through to get to this point. Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share your journey here. You certainly have a cheerleader in me-God Bless you!

Steve;
3 years agoNo twister, but we did shelter under the overhang of a back porch at the invitation of an unseen lady (she shouted to us from a window in the storm, I never saw her but we heard her) and were grateful to be out of the storm.
