Lednar,

Thanks. In my “civilian” life before retirement I worked as a geologist and as a civil engineer so I am familiar with Ariel mapping. But most people wouldn’t have a clue why the crosses are painted on the road, so it was good for you to point that out. Thanks for following, best wishes,

Bud

Lednar,

It’s not by design, I don’t know why it’s that way. I’m new to video though, and I have learned how to do this while on this tour, so I may have some setting set incorrectly.

Also, I don't know if it's by accident or design, I can see your video on this site but not on normal Youtube. Never seen that before.

Hi Bud,
Some useless trivia, that yellow cross on the road early in the video is there for aerial photography. The plane takes a series of photos and they are joined using the cross marking providing a stereo picture. Looks like you'll be 'buying the miles cheap' for quite a while then you can 'release the beast' on the mountains.

Budd things will perk up.....don’t be sad that you’ve left the lake. I think some some vintage tv is in order....like an “All In The Family” or maybe a “Frazier”....that always makes me laugh!!!

Thanks Valerie. When I first started cycle touring, I thought it would all be about my ability to bike the distance every day. Boy, was I wrong! The biking is only half of it - the other half is the adventure part, the planning, the times you run out of food or water or weather keeps you from reaching your destination and you don't know where you will stay that night. So the biking itself is important, but it's the adventure component that really makes it interesting. Why not give it a try? Best wishes,

Budd and Andy.....what an interesting day. Lots of city traffic. I bet you miss the green lawns and sweet houses from days gone by. Well....not much to report tonight except wishing you both a nice ride and safe travels tomorrow. Take care and don’t take any wooden nickels!!!

Bud, these entries are so intriguing... We all love them! Seeing the Great Lakes up close and personal is beyond my imagination, having been astounded by them all my life...alas, by afar. So loved the view of Andy taking a picture of Erie.
And I think that one day, you’ll be hoisting an Emmy above your head for the work you’ve done. Keep it going! 💪💪👏🏻👏🏻

On our first trip to France,we inadvertently started on May 1, a public holiday. No bakeries open, no post offices open, no nothing open. Maybe we should switch our name to The Oblivious Travellers? Loving your journal by the way.

I really enjoyed the video. I am enjoying all your journal entries as I haven't been exposed much to long distance cycling and all of the planning and challenges it entails. I am intrigued to read what is next. I am getting a late start, but I can binge read it now. Stay safe and keep the stories coming!

Steve;

Hey, that's a great idea - I can easily play dumb, so who knows? Thanks for the suggestion!

Richard;

Thanks for the good wishes. We had a good ride through the heart of the Cleveland area. The cooler weather probably helped in that few were out on the lake path and we sailed right on through. Cleveland seems like a great place for biking!

Its the morning of the 29th of May. I live here in northeast Ohio. Been following your travels for the last couple days. Wishing you better weather and a safe ride thru Cleveland the next couple of days.

Wow seems like you all were stars in your own movie today! I hope you got to watch some movies on TCM and hey, the next time you pass a Jack In The Box try their egg rolls.....and the Buttery Bacon Jack and onion rings....wonderful!!! I hope you can join some nice family’s Memorial Day Bar-B-Que this weekend. If you pass a farm house with lots of cars and trucks just play dumb and ask for directions....you may luck out. keep us posted. I think I spied a teenage Judy crying and screaming at that rock concert in your opener.

George (Buddy) Hall replied to a comment by Kelly Iniguez on Day 12: Rest Day in Ticonderoga, NY

Kelly;

It seems to be getting easier to book lodging now that we are past the Adirondacks. I think it will be hard to get lodging this summer anywhere that might be considered to be a "tourist area." The pent-up demand from COVID isolation has gotten many motels and lodges in tourist areas already booked for the entire summer. But outside of these areas it may not be too bad. It can be helpful to add AirB&B to your toolkit when looking for places to stay also. Good luck with your bookings,

Bud
