Bud and Doc,
What beautiful country. I want to move to that red barn behind the house! I love that you get such nice helpful people. That wouldn't happen in most states, certainly not here in California. The next time you are in a small town, ask the locals where you can go get a nice home cooked type dinner....I'm worried about all the pizza and want you to start having some green vegetables, some mashed potatoes and gravy and perhaps a chicken fried steak....sweetened ice tea.....lemon merange pie!!!!! What about it?

Pat;

Illinois was our toughest state so far! It was beautiful, and we loved the low-traffic county roads and the farmland - and the people were all fantastic - but the wind kicked our butts big time! The headwinds we experienced were harder than riding up Kancamagus Pass in New Hampshire or even Middlebury Gap in Vermont, and were much harder than the New York Adirondacks. So we were awed by the fierce power of the Illinois winds. It's a great area for wind power though, and I was glad to see a lot of those steel giants cranking out green power. Love ya,

Buddy

Kerry;

It seems likely we may meet! Our current plan (as of this morning, we are taking a rest day and planning ahead as I type) has us in the Bismarck area on 6/26, then heading west. We are going to need another rest day somewhere along the way up there, but we should be hitting Dickinson around the 28th or so. I'd wish you a tailwind, but that means we would have a headwind - so the best I can hope for us both is calm winds!

Stay in touch and keep us up to date on your progress. Best of luck,

George (Buddy) Hall

George,

Kerry Smith here from Two Far. I've been following your trip and wondering if our paths will cross. Our current plans put us on the Northern Tier in Glendive, MT on 6/28 & then we'll spend about a week riding east on the NT Route to Bismark before we drop down to SD. It would be nice is we could meet.

After watching that video, stuff 'Riding through Paris in a sports car
with the warm wind in my hair' I want to cycle the Indiana plains in the pouring rain. Well done tough guys, keep the sun on your left.

I'll bet your hot shower felt wonderful!

Did you order one dinner or two? Early in our cycling career, we used to order an extra meal to share. The waiters were usually confused . . .

Enjoy those blue skies tomorrow!

Really taxing day and hoping for no repeat of the weather conditions for the remaining days... But!! The line about wanting to visit Yoder, IN all your life... that pretty much sums up the day! I’ve already committed it to memory. It takes on a life of its own. Hope you both have smoother sailing tmrw.

Bud....so glad to know how to relieve itchy teeth!!! rofl!!! Hey, Judy Hall Henry taught me that phrase!!! Hey Judy!!! I had a client who reached for her eye drops in the middle of the night and mistakenly put super glue in her eyes. So the lesson is, don’t put super glue in your makeup bag...rofl!!! You had such a picturesque day. Stop at a pharmacy and get “Sarna” cream for your itch. It’s the best and has a wonderfully wierd scent that you will grow to love!!! Onofn....that’s Over-n-out for now. Sorry....I know I overuse the exclamation marks.

What a fabulous day!!! I thought I saw Aunt Bee, Opie and Andy in the crowd. I can’t wait to see what the Fourth of July brings. You know there is an old saying.....”If you’re being run out of town, get to the front of the line so it will look like you’re leading the parade”. Bud your videos are the highlight of the day.
