That’s a lot of hiking routes but you’re right that we would need lodging nearby!

I'm more intersted in what his little winged friend has to say. I bet your grandson Joe might have a good quip for this one.

Sometimes they drape white mesh like this over buildings under repair, but no real kñowledge of why it might be over the fortress wall.

I tried to post a question earlier regarding the white drape hanging over the fort wall, but it would not load. Any idea what the significance of it could be?

We are glad to hear thst by 2018 the route was good up to Verdun. We last cycled this way in 2015 and things deteriorated after Charleville-Mezieres. We are hoping the route has been improved all the way to Langres, at the source. Fingers crossed.

Reading of those towns reminds me of cycling the Meuse in 2018. It’s an interesting route. The trail was pretty good as far as Verdun, though I think dedicated paths were a little intermittent. At Verdun we decided we needed a change of scene and headed over to Strasbourg. Will be interested to see how the rest of the trail goes. Enjoying your observations. Kia kaha! Michael.

Being a retired explosives safety guy, the cannon firing brought back memories! "Fire in the hole!" is yelled front, then back, then left then right, or whatever order just before touching it off.

I've been away for a few days and am just catching up. When I saw this page, I was saddened. I tried to think of something profound to say, but all I can come up with is to double down on everything all your other Cycleblaze friends have already said.
