Based on our experience we would never again take any transfer flights through CDG that had less than 3 hours between arrival and departure. Even that timing could be tight if one was trying to navigate on one's own through the convoluted and extensive facility. Probably, unless Paris is the end point, avoiding CDG altogether would be wise, and is certainly our intention for the future.
1 year agoInteresting that you were told 3 hours is suggested for transfers at CDG. When I’ve been researching flights, many itineraries from YVR to elsewhere in France feature only 70 minutes between flights at CDG, even when the first is arriving from outside Europe. Obviously, I would never choose one of those.
1 year agoAlthough we will adjust to, and even enjoy, being back home, for now we are really not happy to be here. It feels more like an enforced interlude until we can get back to another cycling adventure. Oh well, there is always planning and preparation to occupy us.
1 year agoGlad you got home safely after the long haul! It was great following you on your tour, lots of information for us for potential cycling in Spain, too. Thanks. I'm sure your stay at home will feel good, at least for a while, and then you will be off again!
1 year agoPoint taken! Great beginnings begat likeness in another part of the world!
1 year agoThese guys are clearly the original thinkers, and any similarity to San Francisco came from (many years/centuries) later.
1 year agoWe are on the ferry and its not half bad! Yes, Willow Street, soon. We hope for good weather to cycle there.
1 year agoIs this the chateau that partly inspired the Disney world castle? I vaguely remember reading something about Neuschwannstein and some French chateau being the inspirations.
1 year agoOh, apologies..I am referring to San Francisco, CA
1 year agoYes, I thought the same thing about the name Anais. Until…this past year not one, but two neighbors have named their daughters this!
It is refreshing to learn more people are choosing names other than what I grew up with ( I am OLD) Kathy, Mary, Jane, Patty. Simple then but nowadays anything goes…
No offense intended, but this view is very similar to that of the green at USF (in foreground) with St. Ignatius spires in center and the Pacific Ocean above. Even the houses and buildings are similar to that of this neighborhood. Guess city planners do think alike😬
1 year agoWe found Valencia to be the easiest Spanish city to get around on bikes of any that we visited.
1 year agoA brilliant plan
1 year agoWe really enjoyed Valencia, and appreciate following the deeper dive through your journal

My list of airports to avoid as transfer points is getting long. It used to just be anywhere in the US but now includes Zurich and CDG. Toronto’s not that great either but Zurich is currently top of my list.
