Thanks, Kathleen. Sorry it to took me so long to respond to your message. I'm going to try do another tour next month, and will take my Canon DSLR along as usual.
Also, I'm starting to put my many non-touring (mostly taken on day rides) photos online, if you're interested: http://jeffleeonline.com/

Another one with great photography. I really love your eye for the signs.
3 years agoAn actual conversation I heard in Texas:
"Can I have a coke?"
"Sure, what kind?"
"Pepsi."
Hah! I've tried Colas from all three machines, and I can certainly tell the difference.
I keep expecting to find that he's added a Diet Rite machine to his collection any day now :)
Nice tour! Thanks for all the nature photos!
3 years agoDone that myself... usually without success, but like a lot of life, a tiny success is enough to keep trying! I think I sort of understand compulsive gambling as a result.
3 years agoThanks for following my tour, Paul!
3 years agoHey Kelly,
Thanks for following my little Fall tour!
I remember looking at an ACA catalog once several years ago, and was shocked at how expensive the tours were - especially how much the "old-style", unsupported, mostly-camping ones cost.
I think I spent less in 2006 when I did the TransAmerica Trail by myself, and I stayed in (sometimes nice) lodging a lot of the time, and ate a lot of restaurant meals. Meanwhile, the ACA group I was riding behind that summer was camping in the heat and cold, and was carrying food and cooking supplies with them.
Good luck with your tour in Arizona. If you guys ever decide to do a tour in or near Kentucky, be sure to let Joy and me know. We'd be happy to assist in any way.
Thanks,
Jeff
Thanks, Paula!
I was too lazy at the time to even do a quick Google search about Cursillo, but I'll look into now that my trip is finished.
I enjoy randomly encountering things I know nothing about on these bike tours - that's one of the reasons I do them.
Hope you haven't had too much snow yet in Wyoming :)
I've been low-key about the last few bike tours I've done, because I imagine that most people I know are tired of hearing about them, haha.
I am surprised she didn't mention it to you, though.
Yeah, you're right: Very strange. I didn't notice it at the time, because I was more interested in the fact that apparently so few people actually attend services at some of these country churches.
3 years agoI did feel some regret once I saw that most of the 20 miles was not completely terrible, but yeah, you're probably right. I just don't want to make a habit of it ;)
3 years agoWell, that 100 miles nearly did me in, and 50-year-old-me could probably have made it the last ten miles to my planned destination easily enough so...
3 years agoThanks, Bill. From the article you linked: "Their bodies are translucent enough that one can actually see the prey moving down the esophagus."
Too bad I didn't get to see that!
Thanks, Bill!
