Yes, content is valuable!
1 year agoHi Dodie,
Always happy to be partners in rant with Steve. It really is sad how air travel went from being so fun and exciting to being something I do not look forward to at all.
I’m glad everything went well getting there. Have a great time!
1 year agoYou’re such an amazing writer! I’m exhausted just reading everything you needed to do.
1 year agoSpectacular!
1 year agoI'm reading this entry while standing in the shower with the heat in the bathroom cranked up as high as it can go to make it feel like I'm there with you.
1 year agoSo glad to read of your successful landing. Thanks for the tip about the Sawyer filters, they could be a good option for our next camping tour. The motorcycle throng is daunting, but claim your space and you'll get through. Hope you got some sleep.

1 year agoLooks like scenes we’ve ridden through in Taiwan. Engage your fish brain, keep your lane.
1 year agoThanks Bruce. One thing about any adversity while cycle touring, we always say "Well, it's bloggable!"
1 year agoSteve, this sounds more awful than anything we have ever experienced. We wouldn't be able to afford it. Maybe it would pay to drive down to Seattle or even Portland next time and fly from there. You can always leave a car in my driveway. I'm sorry this has been so awful for you. The airlines need to change.
1 year agoOh gosh-I am so glad you posted this litany of complaints about air travel (all of which we share, by the way). Earlier today Steve was moaning to me about how no one else but him seems to put in a long, detailed rant about airline malfeasance. He feels better now, having your rant to back him up.
1 year agoWe have just gone through the wringer, finding flights to Cancun and then coping with the nickel and dime machine run by the airline to make sure we arrive as broke as possible. Our magnanimous airline allows a "personal item" of 15x33x43 centimeters, and beyond that the next step is to pay another $105 for luggage (each, coming and going) plus $82 for the bikes (each, coming and going). There is no food and no entertainment and the internet is undecided about whether they charge for water. So in short, your entry here resonates with me (Steve).
1 year agoYour porch looks beautiful and inviting, especially sans outlet! Glad you're on the mend and the illness didn't stop ya. A little bike riding will do you some good. :-)

I think you did this same thing a lot when you and Kristen housesat for us in 2016 while we were on our first ride through Vietnam. But at that time you were dealing with our cold house and had to warm up somehow. You had to get your fingers working so you could birth CycleBlaze.
