Whatever you do, don’t think about those potato chips…. 😊
1 year agoJust a spoonful of Great Depression keeps the chid discipline in place!
... Or *does* it?
Which Chid Temptations will simply be too irresistible?
For your museum experience, a few moments of silence.
Imagining the wisdom of those trees.
And the unfiltered insights of the young artists.
A cab ride and a comfy bed.
That's a nice way to kick off the Saigon segment of this adventure!
Even thinking about being on an airplane makes me feel tense.
So I will think, instead, about your pre-departure phlegm release. That *has* to be another sign of good luck, ¿No?
And vultures! To be able to spot a meal from 10,000 feet up.
And they never have to fly all packed together like humans in a metal tube.
Lucky Lellman! That's you!
Also, I'm glad to hear the story about the ghost in the big house. It gives the spirit house more dimension.
Thanks for the reminder! I’m pretty chid-resistant too, but what can you do when they serve up pretzels with your beer, as they did in a small mountain inn in Switzerland 30 years ago? From our journal: “At our hotel, I went downstairs to the bar to catch up on my journal over a beer, and was pleased to have a small bag of pretzels accompanying them. When I was done I went back upstairs to the room. A few minutes later there was a knock on the door, from the bartender - he was requesting payment for the pretzels.”
1 year agoFunny you should say that. Last night an entire bus load of high schoolers stayed here and we had to wait for them to finish before venturing up to the breakfast room. Imagine the sound of about 150 teenagers in here! It was epic.
1 year agoAnd no crowds to get in your way!
1 year agoYes, she fortuitously turned just as I took the photo.
You know, I failed at being a good reporter on this one. It was really unattractive jewelry so I didn't take much note. However, I do think some of it did have the message of no war ever again. We were too busy making cynical remarks about what big wig got to have a jewelry store right inside the War Remnants Museum. He no doubt is one of the higher ups and possibly persuaded his comrades with, "I'll give 10% of the proceeds to the museum." It was the only store there.
Artful photo with her skirt flaring. Do the wares in the gift shop have anything to do with the subject of the museum?
1 year agoDreadful.
1 year agoThank you, Victor. It will be steamy alright. So far we love it here in Saigon, a city unknown to us before now. If you are in Bangkok around Feb.13th we could have dinner with you like we did last year and, ideally, spend more time with you that we did a year ago. Always good to see you and/or communicate with you.
1 year agoYes, sadly they are cutting down hundreds of these trees to make way for a subway and bridge approaches. It's called "progress" and the trees are in the way!
