Today sounds like it was the short day from hell. Glad you made it through relatively unscathed and have a few days to regroup and get Bruce's rack repaired. Enjoy your lovely room.
11 months agoDragon fruit come in incandescent purple-red or white. They have tiny dark seeds and watermelon kind of texture. Their flavor is subtle, unlike their flamboyant appearance.
11 months agoA fearsome looking plant. I wonder what it tastes like?
11 months agoYeah, well, this goes without saying, Greg. Even though I have never met you!
11 months agoYes, if they are like myself they would have taken hours to eat!
11 months agoYeah, but you should see the chaos when the light changes to green. And at the intersection when motorbikes are turning every which way. There are no traffic lights with green arrows so it is a free-for-all. The best way to explain it is with a video and so far we haven't added videos to our journals. I don't know why.
1 year agoI'm definitely a mishmash colorwise. My helmet used to match my bags but now my new helmet kind of contrasts. Hopeless. All I could come up with was matching our shorts.
1 year agoIt’s pretty early in the game but we definitely are doubting our wisdom here. The heat, humidity, and traffic are harshing our mellow so we’re taking a couple of rest days here in Ben Tre to see if we can get Bruce’s rack welded and ponder our options.
1 year agoI’m also a big fan of loose clothing and have toured in long-sleeved linen shirts in the past. Unfortunately, in high humidity linen fails to cool, and I am a prodigious sweat-er. I’m a late adopter of technical fabrics but these sun sleeves are Columbia brand Omni-freeze fabric, they take the sweat and help it evaporate quickly, so it has to be close to the skin to get the cooling effect. Bruce’s orange shirt is the same. I have a pair of white sleeves too, for very sunny days.
1 year ago“Don’t be like us”. OMG - you are so much braver than we could ever be! I’m enjoying following along but to be honest I’m glad it’s you out there and not me. I don’t think I’d be able to function!
1 year ago29 miles is very impressive! That’s about what we did on our Spain trip and we weren’t dealing with the heat. I certainly understand your anxiety. I was anxious in Spain and there’s a lot less reasons to be anxious.
1 year agoI’m Im so glad you made it through the awful traffic but am sorry your rack broke!
1 year agoI love your description of this encounter! We had an encounter like this in Japan but it was adults and they don’t eat fast! It was like a swarm of locusts.
1 year agoI love your description of chid! We see the same thing in our travels and the chid is a lot more expensive and it’s why I always have my own snacks and only get something in dire circumstances. I grew up in poverty so I hate wasting money!

Yes, this looks much better.
