What an amazing collection of flowers!
9 months agoIt was a nice day, rain on the roof all day. The cats were pretty cute how they came to be with us. Turned out they didn't even belong to the guest house at all. Must have been the neighbor's cats. We didn't know we had neighbors!
Fortunately the wifi was super fast here and we spent the time to get caught up on our journal. We never dreamed we would have a rainy day this time of year.
I do like that bicycles can attract such a wide range of people to ride them. I get that there are those who are pure jocks and want the workout/performance/mileage/personal best. But then there are also people like us. We tell people we meet that we are not in as great shape as they think. We are simply tourists who ride bikes.
9 months agoI love Lake Superior AND Upper Michigan. Lucky you to have lived there with both.
9 months agoI think there is exactly one photo of me standing with my surf board but I haven't seen it in years. It will surface someday and I'll post it on Instagram for all to see. I went to college in Minnesota and when one of my friends found out I had been a surfer in Florida he immediately named me Surf City. The 'City' was dropped but there were lots of people who only knew me as Surf! For years!
9 months agoMost people would have been angry as the sea with our soaking wet day but we were both having a great time. Actually, so were the cycle tourers.
9 months agoI went to high school in Daytona Beach and during that time a family came down from the north to vacation and they made a little fire on the beach and roasted wieners on sticks - freshly cut oleander sticks. They all died!!
9 months agoThank you, Bill. We knew we could count on you. There sure are a lot of beautiful flowers in SE Asia.

9 months agoThis is gomphrena. We see the seeds for this in farm supply stores.
9 months agoA most exciting day, and I think the big waves on the sea helped make it so. I lived on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for a few years, and loved to watch those November gales whipping up huge waves. I didn't surf in them though.
9 months agoWow! Nice photos! I ran outta time digging for IDs
9 months agoOleander. Just don't eat them. Quite toxic. They grow everywhere in Southern CA where I grew up.
