I'm glad that you found that. I've been asking "What makes Nova Scotia rocks red?". It does depend on the question you ask. Surely the red sand has the same origin as the red rock.
2 years agoIt is pretty. I remember it from when we were in Nova Scotia decades ago. I did some research on this myself yesterday and couldn’t find anything either. Surprising.
2 years agoJust googled "what makes PEI soil red", answer is high iron oxide content. Sometimes with google it seems to be how you ask the question that determines what answer you get?
2 years agoThat is the obvious answer, but nothing I have found doing Google searches references iron content or iron oxide.

Moncton and Shediac! We biked through here on our first anniversary tour. I can still picture the terns diving into the bay at Shediac.
