That is beautiful
2 years agoWe have certainly reached the place where most of us can only provide for our food, clothing and shelter with money. No money means no survival even if the raw materials are available.
2 years agoRegarding decline in farming... That makes depressions so much worse because there is no work and no way to get food. On a farm, it was a matter of plant and harvest. Might not have any nice stuff, but nobody starves.

Maybe wild roses. Not enough detail to be sure.
2 years agoThat's the final, definitive answer. Thanks!
2 years agoYes, sandstone can be various colors, but red sandstone is due to iron oxide. https://mineralseducationcoalition.org/minerals-database/sandstone
2 years agoThat's what we found, but the question we wanted to answer was what makes the rocks red? Is sandstone always red? Are the red sand beaches from the red sandstone? I would say yes to that one, but is it iron content which makes the rocks, and therefore the sand, red? That seems to be the prevailing understanding among our commenters.
2 years agoNice park for Sunbathing! Beautiful view too.
2 years agoSince you have 5 leisurely days to kill, I'll share my meager findings on the red Nova Scotia roads...
I googled "why are Nova Scotia roads red" and got a link to the Mining Association of Nova Scotia Facebook page. They said the road color is determined by the aggregate used to build them. Rock from quarries like the one in Kempton Nova Scotia are red.
I believe the red rocks in question are sandstone. https://archives.novascotia.ca/meninmines/history/quarries/.
My friends, your trip has been so fun to watch! I didn't make it PEI, so it was nice to see your experience. Happy Trails - Yarmouth Bound✓
2 years agoAs thanks. I will continue following you both. I adjusted my route, but I’m happy with the decisions. I have one haul to do from Digby to Yarmouth. Please continue to be inspiring and kind!!!!
