You picked a really nice and pretty place to spend the night.
2 years agoMy! I can sit at this picnic area the whole day. Just really a nice place to eat a Roasted Turkey Sandwich and a cold diet coke. This really makes my day!
2 years agoO, I love the colors! Attractive and you don't see a lot of motels like this. Hope you had a good restful night sleep.
2 years agoWell we are certainly a low speed vehicle.
2 years agoThat could be the answer, though we didn't notice any earbuds. They are very small these days. I think that earbuds are really dangerous for cyclists on roadways. It's not just friendly greetings that can be missed!
2 years agoIt is a very inviting space.
2 years ago"...We passed several other cyclists out for morning rides and were quite surprised at how many of them completely ignored our friendly greetings. Maybe they were all in some Zen moment and tuning out any extraneous stimuli...."
My guess is earbuds. I bet they never heard you and were only ever minimally aware of your presence, barely more than subconsciously as an obstacle to be avoided.
I'd be hanging out right here!
2 years agoMaybe they meant the sign for recumbent tandems?
2 years agoWell, I have my Garmin, as I am the chief navigator (and I love watching the miles add up). After last summer's unfortunate incident in Florida, I keep pepper spray at hand. That's the bright pink canister. The purple can holder is for my camera. I have a small bag with pockets for my phone and frequently used items like Chapstick, tissues and hand sanitizer. I also carry a list of the day's available stores and restaurants, so we don't just ride along hoping we'll soon come to a bathroom or food and beverage break. These things make this stoker happy!
2 years agoWe usually reserve the entire trip before we leave. It is so much easier for us to have it all planned in advance than to have to spend time while we're traveling trying to arrange lodging and adjust routes. I find it much easier to change existing reservations than to have no reservations at all. I make a big spreadsheet with all the information I need and then I am free from having to think about it unless we need to modify a day here and there.
2 years agoI can't quite make out all of the items on the back of the captain's seat - what does it take to make this stoker happy? :)
2 years agoWe also make our reservations in advance. How far out do you go? Our longest tour has been two months, and I reserved the entire trip. We generally ride in popular tourist areas. Perhaps if we were in the midwest, we would leave it more to chance.
We have also noticed lodging prices changing wildly. A friend decided to join us. He just started making reservations last month. Prices went up accordingly. Some as much as $100. a night. The motel in Ridgway, CO (close to Telluride) told him the room would be $100. a night more and he would have to stay two nights.
Yes, lodging is a subject of interest for me!
Salute!

I think you two enjoyed biking and passing by these beautiful homes.
2 years agoThese houses are "eye catching"!
