Beardtongue?!? This is jumping up to my Top Ten List of favorite plant names and is now among such delights as Nipplewort, Knobweed, Virgin Thistle, Stiffcock, and Family Jewels Milkweed.

I love "Non-Modern Restrooms" as a euphemism!

Might be a silky rosegill... But... mushrooms are notoriously variable and some extremely poisonous ones may look just like edibles other than spore prints or other technical points... I really hesitate to make fungus IDs due to such problems.

As a German mushroom hunter famously said, "Oh, you can eat -ALL- mushrooms... Some only ONCE!"

That thing Carl does with always taking different routes and recording them in the Rand McNally Atlas . . . I used to do the exact same thing.

Thanks for showing me what I missed on my failed attempt to ride the Heritage Trail this summer. I had a feeling there would be a lot of viewblockers.

A music festival is a great way to end a day of cycling. You were most fortunate.

I love learning new words, too, and there are SO many of them out there! And, of course, etymologies.

I like learning new words. In the UK we also have an idiom "it's blowing a hoolie" for the kind of winds that send you sideways. The words may or may not have a common route, but I hope they do. I like the idea of a party that creates temporary havoc with all upright things.
