Our weather at the start was so wonderful that we are really noticing the change, especially since we stupidly mailed home our extra hoodies and leggings. Oh well, it will probably improve as the season advances and if not there are always shops where we can get more warm clothes.
6 years agoSame concept as the paella we did not try in the Camargue. There is something a bit offputting about food that seems to be trying to come at you from the bowl.
6 years agoYeah, we did actually try that but the file was too weak and made very little impression on the threads of the bolt so we left it for now and will maybe try to find a bike shop somewhere down the road.
6 years agoHi Steve and Dodie,
Your tip for taking the Canal de Bruche and the Wine Route has been great. We are loving it here. Riding along the canal was a real highlight of our day. The signage was excellent . Loving your journal.
All the best,
Barry and Mary Ellen
It sure looks like you two have been unlucky with weather lately. I was surprised when I planned the map out from Crete and saw how wet the rest of Southern Europe is. Too bad, but that’s the advantage of longer tours - it averages out eventually.
Great that you’re going to hook up with Leo!
Hah! I remember that post. Reminded me of a scene in a terry Pratchett book - although I can’t remember which one - that described odd bits and tentacles rising up from some “stew”.

Today you are about to loose ... what ?
Ah, at least it is not another French term that everybody knows but me.
Today we will reach Toulouse - one of our favourite cities because of (1) cool and groovy atmosphere and (2) cycle path is paved!
p.s. How about the technical English term "Delicious"?

I do not know the croutinette but it reminds me the German cake Stollen
made of fruit bread of nuts, spices, and dried or candied fruit, coated with powdered sugar or icing sugar. It is a traditional German bread eaten during the Christmas season, when it is called Weihnachtsstollen (after "Weihnachten", the German word for Christmas) or Christstollen (after Christ).
Voilà
Michel, is croutinette a name you recognize?
