If the weather cooperates the ride "across the water" is fabulous. If not, it becomes a long hard slog getting around to Sete on the north side of the lagoon.

This is a very useful information for us as we contemplate our options going south.

Hello from Victoria. We have read the Northern France section of this journal with interest, as we are planning a 2 month journey starting and ending in London. We'll head to England's West Country, cross from Plymouth to Roscoff, spend at least 3 weeks in Brittany, then head through Normandy and Belgium, possibly riding north as far as Delft, Netherlands to visit friends if time permits, then crossing back to England for the return home.
The idea of following some of the Maple Leaf route is of interest to us but reading your best and worst post gives us some caution about riding this Northern section at all! If you had it to do over again, would you stay on the EV4 coastal route or go inland as you did?

Is the red light atop the circular window a “Panic Button”? 🙄
And what is up with the paper sticker affixed to the blue color left turn directional “1947”…hmmm.

It is so terribly tragic. Every time we go past one of those massive graveyards and see how young the individuals are it is eniugh to make one weep.

Agreed, and unfortunately it is still happening. We never learn, do we? ( well, “we” do, but those in power don’t..)

Depends on whether or not you expect it to! Personally I prefer the machine made latte in the Netherlands because their ingredients are superior to what we have here in CA. ( And, no, I do not buy any StarYucks)

No heart of leaf design in the latte because the two dots atop the foam signify the latte was made by a machine and not by personal hand..

You are quite right. Since we have been home we have invented myriad ways to spend money. A lot has been repairing stuff that we wouldn't care about if we were not here - cars, hot tubs, pools, mowers, tractors...

A supported tour would cost that much for one week. You two did great. I bet you spend close to that at home doing home projects and local shopping/trips or at least a percentage of it that should be taken into account since you were gone for months instead of a short trip.

I hope the knee replacement goes well. And I look forward to the next adventure.
