And we thought we were tired at the end of our 83km day. Wow, those flights are long. New Zealand sure is far away. You will definitely need a day to readjust your internal clocks. Oh, welcome to this side of the world.

We have just got off a 17.5 hr flight from Auckland to Dubai and are waiting to board our flight to Cairo another 4 hours in the air. I think we will have had enough flying for the day!

One of my only complaints about Europeans is their invasion of personal space and an unwillingness to yield to others.

And it’s really not the cars/drivers. I’ve only had a few "give 'em the finger" moments in 10+ tours. It’s the bikers, walkers, and line crashers that drive me up a wall.

Like the little old lady who butted into the very long train information line at the Amsterdam airport just as I reached the front. Or the three bicyclists riding three abreast taking up the entire Donau Radweg. And it doesn’t seem to matter if the bicyclists are coming towards you or if you’re clanging a bell as you approach from behind, they don’t move!

Finally, there are the ones who run you down with shopping carts in Aldi's or Netto's or Carrefour's, among others.

And as if direct physical contact was bad enough, how about the smokers? The entire patio/plaza of a cafe can be empty and a group of three or more smokers will sit at the table next to you and light up. Naturally, the wind will waft the smoke directly into your cafe macchiato...or what ever you and Dodie drink.

Grrrrr. I’ll get off my soap box now. Enjoy Vienna when you get there. Sorry I’ll miss ya’ in Prague.

Whoa! That's a pretty big climb at the end of the day! Glad you made it up and over with no problems!

We were just wondering today what the river cruises would be like. I think too much luxury would make us crazy. Please add us to the list of family and friends who receive your nonblog emails of your upcoming trip. Have a great time. Steve and Dodie

Think visiting the factory would be very dangerous for me. About the river boats last year we went on one from the Black Sea to Budapest it was a wonderful trip filling in the part of the Danube we hadn’t cycled. Very luxurious and when we got off we wondered if we could ever think for ourselves again and we had to get ourselves to Hamburg and buy bikes
Tomorrow we head for Egypt and Jordan for three weeks. Needless to say NO cycling so I can’t write a blog will just have to write something by email for family and friends who can’t understand why I can’t write ona cycling website!

Interesting. Steve's favourite is also marzipan. Dodie loves the peppermint. We visited the Ritter Sport factory one year, what fun.

My reason for riding in Germany and Austria is to get Ritter Sport chocolate. I am addicted to the Marzipan ones. Last year I bought 10 back from Munich. There is only only one shop I know of
in NZ that sells them this is a small Dutch shop close by which makes and sells its own extremely delicious cheese. And has a few other yummy things Ritter Sports cost around $5 there occasionally when Ken is feeling very generous he buys me one

Hot female, brand of bicycle, hotel name? Tomato, tomahto.

Hi again,
"Hase" had a slang connotation when I lived in Germany, oh so many years ago now. Slightly naughty way of describing a hot looking female if I remember correctly. So, maybe a good name for a hotel?
Cheers,
Keith

No, but I think it’s one of the ones that faces the Catholic Church - perhaps the Konig. It’s one of the first ones you come to when you bike in from the east. Of course, this was 20 years ago though.

Hey Scott, do you remember the name of the hotel?

I have the same problem. It is probably related to the fact that we book the cheaper rooms in older buildings, which means the attic.
