Really like that you are enjoying cycling in Germany so much. I agree, I think we are very lucky here. For many it's not just a sport but a way of life.
As for the pillows in German hotels, I agree there, too. They're terrible!
A brief word of warning:
Make sure that you hear a loud click each time you put the bag on the bike and test that it is firmly in place.
I lost my bag once, ran over it and was diverted to the side of the road but still upright. The bag now has a few abrasions.
I thought that E38 was a bit more than I paid a few years back but I notice that it is a wider version designed to straddle the e-bike computer/speedo thing.
Anyway a much more user friendly product that the Ortlieb version.

It is good to see their faces, wish we could be there for a visit!
5 years agoAnother happy Klikfix customer here.
There are four mounting screws on both of mine (I transfer the bag from single to tandem) and although they provide a cable as additional security I don't use it.

Dodie looked cold in one of those pics!
I agree with Jonathan. I use a Klickfix mount on my touring bike and keep the Ortlieb one that came with my handlebar bag on my old "around town" bike. It's easy to take off when I unbolt the stem from the handlebar and reattach when I reassemble the bike. No cables!
I have the first Ortlieb model with magnetic closure, Ultimate 6, I think.
Look at that snow in those mountains! What a great time to be there. Hope you both recover from your colds quickly.
5 years agoHey Steve...re that handlebar pack mount. Your Ortlieb pack should also work with a Klickfix mount. You might check the Ortlieb website to make sure, but it’s what I use after switching from a Vaude pack a couple of years ago. The Klickfix can also be a bit temperamental, but it usually can be re-adjusted a few times without issue. I’ve actually found the screw that goes from front to back to be the bigger problem - metal screwing into plastic. Good luck.
5 years agoThe next time you're in a restaurant in France, Steve, ask for radishes; you'll automatically get butter to go along with it. Why? Because french radishes are notoriously "hot"!
5 years agoThanks Sue. We are actually beginning to recover and are confident that by Saturday we will be good to go.
5 years agoSteve is well known for asking for butter in France. A few years ago he asked for some with bread in a restaurant, and was greeted with stunned incredulity.
5 years agoHope you are both feeling much much better before Saturday. Looking forward to reading about your ride and all the tortes!
5 years agoGlad to see you on the road again! Just one small observation on your Paris experience at the beginning of your trip: you were complaining about the absence of butter alongside the croissants chez Paul. What you were served were "croissants au beurre" recognizable by their more or less straight shape. Croissants made without butter are the crescent shaped ones. At least, that the theory. Have a great trip, fueled with great pastries!
5 years agoHappily the start of this trip, as you will see 9ver the next 3 days does not involve cycling, but rather getting to the starting line and visiting some dear friends. We are actually beginning to feel better and expext to be fine by Saturday when the actual cycling begins. Thanks for thinking about us.
The weather is fabulous here. The nights and early mornings are cold, but the days have been sunny and pleasantly warm.
You poor things! I'm sending lots of healing thoughts your way and hope you are back on your feet and in your pedals soon. What is the weather like there?
